Interesting claim about speed, but not at all true to my experience.

My partner used OpenOffice on Mafia$oft windblow$ for years and
never had any complaints about speed.  Also had very good success
maintaining all her formatting in the transfer of her entire book into
OpenOffice as well. (Of couse, now she's a delighted Mac user at
both work and at home and uses the NeoOffice.org port of OOo).

Of all the other Mafia$oft windblow$ victims that I have helped
liberate with Open Office, every one of them has thanked me and
not a single one has had a complaint about the speed or ease of use.
