[ale] Name resolutoin in the WM

I've noticed something strange on FC5.  If I'm on a slow network will it
takes a little longer to resolve names then startup of new programs take
longer.  Just now I clicked on my xterm icon it takes 35 seconds for the
xterm to appear.  At home it immediate.  The difference is that at home
I use a caching name server.  Here I use comcast's name servers.  My
only guess it has something to do with the hostname of the laptop and
gnome trying to resolve that.  I can think of anything else it would be
resolving

Sure enough if I do a tcpdump the minute I click that icon it does this:
