I haven't thought about a PE 3210 in a long time.

I wrote my first Unix device driver for a PE 3210 while consulting at Delta
in '82 I think.  I had no idea what I was doing (straight out of college and
all my low-level experience was Z-80), but I had some convoluted assembly
language scheme in mind to give me access to the hardware.  I called
Wallogong for some support, and they asked me "Why aren't you using the
standard device drive model/API?"

What a revalation that UNIX had a user accessible device driver mechanism.

Shit, that was 25 years ago.  I must be wrong, maybe it was 2001 when I was
doing that.  :)
