Later trolleys had rubber, but the interurban trolleys ran on rails, 
those were the ones Goodyear and Firestone legislated out of business so 
more people would buy cars and tires.  At least that's what my Dad told 
me.  :s  San Francisco still had buses that ran on overhead wires back 
in the 70's.  I think they are still in use, but I can't recall seeing 
them the last time I was out there.
