Per NIST (National Institute of Standards).

1 GB = 1000 x 1000 x 1000
1 GiB = 1024 x 1024 x 1024

You have KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB, etc.

It is about a 7% difference GB vs. GiB.

TB vs TiB is about 11% different IIRC.

A lot of Europeans use the above consistently and many Linux tools are
starting to use the above on their output.
