[ale] Any debian experts? How do I forcibly remove something that isn't installed.

I understand, I didn't "force" the original install.  I took a chance on 
having the correct requirements.  It's been my experience in the past 
that when an install failed because of dependency issues it didn't screw 
up the database.  :(
