I rather enjoyed ripping apart my iBook clamshell when it stopped
booting.  I replaced much of the guts (logic board was fried), and it
ran well for another year or so.  I parted it out and probably made back
the money I spent on it.

If you feel confident taking computers apart, I would just do that
(assuming it is not covered by any warranty).  It is probably EOL and
cheaper to replace than get it fixed by a "professional".
