man terminfo - do a search for these items and you'll see them.

One key "\E" in terminfo = ESC.  So for line movement you have il (you
input the number of lines) and il1 (one line).

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something here. I do not have an
/etc/termcap
on my system (ubuntu dapper)...but I do have terminfo. So I can do the
following to get what I *think* you'd get from /etc/termcap:

But how does the above information get me where I want to go? How should
I
interpret things like cub, cuf, etc?
