[ale] Internet access under Linux

I have heard the port 25 blocking complaint on this list before so  
when BS called to sell me DSL I asked the sales guy if they blocked  
any ports, specifically 25.  Of course he didn't know but he  
conferenced a tech into the call.  She said they do not currently  
block port 25 and they would block or open ports at the customers  
request.

They were offering 6 MB and a static IP for $47.  That is $20 less  
than I pay speedfactory and 3 MB faster.  If he had been able to give  
me a UID that had anything to do with my real name I might have  
signed up.
