I get the impression from reading
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/digitaltv.html that only the "air
waves" must be freed of analog signal. I don't think stuff coming
through a wire absolutely has to be changed. But I could be wrong. I
don't know anything about the stuff. I know they will eventually be
switching it all to digital, but mine certainly isn't yet. The last
time the repair guy came out he had to replace the filter which
regulates the channels I receive. I said that I thought that was all
controlled at the headquarters and he said "not yet, but by 2008." I
imagine that is part of the digital functionality.
