I have also found that having smart repositories that are different from
the yast software installation sources can really give you problems.
So, that is a current project to pick appropriate repositories that
complement and don't cause conflicts.
Nvidia has a repository for suse for the nvidia driver.
protocol: ftp
server: download.nvidia.com
path: novell
Just do Yast2 and go into Installation Sources. Add the above info in.
Then you can search in the Software Manager for nvidia to get the chance
to pick the newest nvidia driver to have installed. I've tested it and
it worked like a charm. They match the kernel so the interface is
matched. I don't believe there is any need to deal with compiling the
interface since the install showed the current kernel version. Also
installation was way faster than my manual compile/install method.
