[ale] GRUB issue on boot

/boot is at /dev/md0
according to grub.conf boot=/dev/hda
when I run grub-install --recheck /dev/hda it tells me it is going to probe devices to guess BIOS drives then returns "/dev/md0 does not have any corresponding BIOS drive"
Is there a different cmd syntax I should be using in this case?
Thank you.
