WEEKEND;

There is a group of GEEKS, yup true blue computer geeks from all walks
of life, as geekie as they come, members of Atlanta Linux User Group,
Atlanta Asterisk are just a few of the numerous Atlanta user groups that
have come together to help.

After work and on weekends they go to the 14th floor of Galleria
Parkway. They look through donated equipment, pick a few of the choicest
pieces and make it work and then someone else will pack it on pallets.
Back and forth to the donations of computer equipment that have been
gathered over the last few weeks by even more volunteers

They are going to have sprint this weekend, a sprint for a geek has
nothing to do with running, it is when a bunch of the geeks get together
and do something BIG, it has to do with strutting their stuff, how
fast, how different, how compact the code. It really has to do with
programming and setting up equipment. Braggin rights

This weekend will be one of the biggest, even geeks from out of town are
coming in. It goes 24/7 Geeks from all the Atlanta User Groups and some
that aren't in a user groups will be there.

They went into what is called the corporate computer graveyards where
corporate America sends old computer equipment to die. This weekend they
are going to see how much equipment they can build out. Why are they
building it, not because it's there to do, not because they have nothing
to do this weekend. They are building it out for the thousands of
machines that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.

Once built it will be loaded on pallets, then on to trucks and then
taken to the Volunteers in the disaster zone. It should be a truly
wondrous event ..... if you are a geek.

Any geek with a win2000 or better Laptop is welcome to come down and
strut their stuff, They get to keep their Laptop, just need it to do
some configuring. Coffee, Drinks, and the game will be on.
