[ale] Emacs stinks, Vi is for wimps

Debian or SuSe,  I prefer Debian, but it isn't as good at detecting 
hardware as SuSe, so sometimes I go with the ease of installation and 
install SuSe.  I have Debian on 4 systems and SuSe on 3 right now.
