Back in the early days, when we first founded this group, we set it up
as a goal to alternate topics of "newcomer" or "basic" (I won't say
"newbie" here, because they were generally "meatfull" and not just
newbie chow) and advanced (but never over-the-top advanced, either).
That worked well for a number of years, even if it was only informally
maintained. We might want to consider that again, but the issue is
always obtaining speakers. It's tough alternating topics when the first
challenge is just to fill the schedule.
And on that topic... Aaron (I think) or somebody asked me about
reprising my PGP/GPG talk and keysigning party. I'm not sure I want to
do that, just yet (later... next year... maybe...), but I am working on
some crypto stuff where I have my entire laptop encrypted (in
preparation for a speaking engagement in Singapore) and it has to be
booted from a USB flash key. That's been a bit of a spooky adventure
getting to a fully encrypted system under the new 2.6 kernel and device
mapper and getting a bootable flash key built (based on Adios 4.10)
capable of maintaining the sucker. It'll take a while to work up a talk
based on that (if anyone is interested) so it'll have to be later in the
year... I would count that one in the "advanced topics"
category... :-)
Sooo... I've got topics...
IPv6
Encryption (file, drive, general)
GPG/PGP
Keysigning Party
Wireless Security
Forensics
Vote now and I'll see what I can do...
