No.2 daughter graduates this spring from college out on the left coast.
Due to prior commitments, distance, age, and two other graduations in the
family occuring at the same time, many family members will not be able to
make the trip. Unfortunately, many of the missing will want at least
pictures, if not half way decent videos with pictures, commentary and so
forth. I have a Sony digital camcorder, and have access to two Sony still
cameras, so acquisition of the raw footage shouldn't be a problem. (Memo
to self - need a stronger zoom lens for the camcorder). The challenge will
be reducing it to a dvd or vcr or both as the family has a wide range of
electronic gadget currency.

I could get Apple's iMovie, and work on her mac, although that computer is
almost certain to disappear from me quickly.

I'd rather work under Linux, in large measure because the hardware is
mine, and isn't going away 8-). Does anybody on this list have experience
with such projects under Linux have some guidence or wisdom they wish to
share?

>From my initial reading, it looks like Kino can handle editing if a way of
importing jpeg pictures is available. Cinelerra will also edit to a
fair-thee-well, but with the potiential of a steep learning curve.

I've got something like two months to figure this out, so there really
isn't a rush here.

Thanks in advance.
