[ale] SSH Woes

It might be something with ssh version.  I get that sometimes between my
laptop and home network but not my laptop and work network.  What
versions of ssh are you on?  I'm on:

3.8.1p1-8.sarge.4

I think it might be related to idle timeout though as I seem to notice
it if I've left my console idle for a while, even if keepalive is on.
