I'm interested in a solution for this type problem too. Is an answer downloading and compiling XFree86 for the distro your running? Seems that would be the fix for such a problem.

Subject: [ale] FreeNX on Fedora Core 3

I am trying to get FreeNX (server) working on my Fedora Core 3 Linux
computer so that I can view it using the NX Client via a MS Windows XP
Pro computer.

I have the following:
  - Fedore Core 3. Relatively stock, but anything that wasn't installed
via the original media has been installed via yum
  - I'm trying to follow the howto available at
http://fedoranews.com/contributors/rick_stout/freenx/
  - I downloaded the following RPM's from fedoranews.org
	- freenx-0.3.1-0.rh.0.noarch.rpm
	- nx-1.4.0-0.rh.4.i386.rpm
When I try to install them (rpm -Uvh <pkg>), I get the following dependency:
/* Begin Error */
error: Failed dependencies:
         XFree86 is needed by nx-1.4.0-0.rh.4.i386
         XFree86-tools is needed by nx-1.4.0-0.rh.4.i386
/* End Error */

FC3 (as I understand it) was installed with x.org (rather than XFree86).
  Can anyone offer a 'next step'?
