What exact version of 2.6 kernel are you running.  I pretty sure there 
were some issues with burning cd's as none root users on version 
2.6.8-2.6.10.
If you are using any of those, downgrade to 2.6.7, I'm not sure if 
2.6.10 or 2.6.11 fixed the problem.  Google it!
