I looked into the 3rd party firmwares ~6 months ago. At that time, there were
only a handful of choices, and the best one then was the Sveasoft image. But,
they're charging a yearly subscription fee to get access to the images. For
myself, I'd pay it, but it might not be worth it for someone else. *shrug*

If you can put some time into researching the options, you should be able to
find a firmware image that won't pooch your router. Like I mentioned above, I'd
personally go with the Sveasoft images, but there are many more available. I
