however, BIOS won't allow you to boot off a 'slave' disk (hdb). Some smart
BIOSes may though. Therefore, it'd be beneficial to have a hda/hdc mirror
instead of hda/hdb, if the BIOS allow you to boot off CDROM on slave.
Moreover, hda/hdc mirror will benefit from spreading IO on two disk
controllers and better redunancy.

Grub by default is in /boot/grub which, based on what you said, seem to
only exist on /dev/hda (unless you manually mirrored it to hdb).
Therefore you will need a boot floppy/cdrom to and a new install of
grub.
