ALErs -

I have an ATAPI CD-RW drive and have no problem recording from MsWin, nor
from RH-7.3 Linux with 'cdrdao' (to copy audio CDs), but I am having
problems with 'cdrecord'. Attempting to blank a CD-RW, I do:

 [root at otter root]# cdrecord dev=/dev/scd0:0,0 blank=fast
 Cdrecord 1.10 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 J?rg Schilling
 scsidev: '/dev/scd0:0,0'
 devname: '/dev/scd0'
 scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0
cdrecord: Read-only file system. Cannot open '/dev/scd0'. Cannot open
 SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are
 root.

Obediently I recheck and there it is:
[root at otter root]# cdrecord -scanbus
 Cdrecord 1.10 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 J?rg Schilling
 Linux sg driver version: 3.1.24
 Using libscg version 'schily-0.5'
 scsibus0:
        0,0,0 0) 'LG ' 'CD-RW CED-8080B ' '1.06' Removable CD-ROM
 ...

Checking permissions:
 [root at otter root]# ls -l /dev/scd0
 brw------- 1 jmills disk 11, 0 Apr 11 2002 /dev/scd0

How should I address this device for 'cdrecord', or what permissions
should I change?

TIA.
