[ale] dd - how long should it take?

I've done several 6.4 gig ide drives and, they usually take 3-4 hours. A
disk that's going bad may reread blocks a bit, which would slow the process
down. As long as the green lights are flickering, and there is nothing
really ugly in the syslog, just let it run.

Anybody ever been crazy/desperate enough to dd a 9gb SCSI disk?
We've had a dd going on a Sun 450 for hours now. dd as far as I know
doesn't offer verbose, so it's just quietly sitting there. *Something* is
happening between the disks b/c the little green lights are flickering on
them.
