I am not sure which one is $88, but I picked up an OEM Samsung drive
from Micro Center a few weeks ago for $99 and I have had excellent success with it.
I have already used it to burn an ep of Penn & Tellers BS to a DVD+R from my
TiVo, and backup a DVD I have that won't play in my dvd player due to scratches
but will in my PC (on the Samsung drive). The copy plays better then the origional
did. ;)

Don't know the brand, but MicroCenter has an 8x DVD+-RW for $88.
