[ale] Burning Software

I hope someone can help me out. A friend of mine had an old peice of software on his computer and wants to burn it on to a CD to transfer to another computer, the original copy is gone. When the burner (This is Windows 98) burns it, it will not do the whole thing, I am thinking that it is either encrypted or to large for the CD. Any one have any other suggestions?
