[ale] Sound weirdness

Bjorn. thanks for the info. I solved it and did not update the list. My bad. 
Anyway, the PC is dual-boot so I booted into WinME (first time it's been in 
Windows in months) and tried a few games. Sound worked fine, so that ruled 
out hardware problems and the need to re-seat my card.

I rebooted into SuSE 9.0 and went into Control Center and selected Sound and 
Multimedia. Went to sound I/O and tried OSS, Alsa and Automatic. Tested each. 
I finally got sound after selecting Automatic and autodetect on sound 
quality.

Once I got sound working correctly through the control center, I went into 
XMMS and tried Alsa, OSS and Arts. It's working using the Arts driver. I'm 
sure it would work fine using Alsa as well. I don't know where I messed it up 
to begin with, but making sure I could get sound through testing from the 
control center sent me in the right direction.
