I've been quite happy with Mandrake on my Sony Vaio. It's a little older than
yours and all hardware is supported. I find that Mandrake provides a better
desktop system than RedHat and better maintenance tools, but otherwise is
quite similar. During the install it will easily replace any other OS on
your drive, if you so choose.
