Thanks again Dow.
I'm not sure what you mean. It's a Maxtor HD, IEEE1394 SBP-2 rig....
split up into 5 virtual disks, i.e. /dev/sda[5-9], treated as a SCSI device.
I don't know if dump supports it but presume so since it's installed as
a SCSI device running off a AHA-2944 adapter using aic7xxx driver.
I've been trying to back up /dev/sda[5-9] onto a Sony AIT tape drive
using....
dump 0af /dev/nst0 /dev/sda5
etc...
I guess dump supports all SCSI drives including ieee1394 devices. It
certainly functions OK as a sequence of scsi HDs.
By the way, thanks for the suggestion of having the repair outfit here
in Alpharetta look at the Sony AIT tape drive. I know you were trying to
help but they never even called me back after talking to one of their
repairmen. Any other ideas for trouble with the tape drive in the future ?
Most Appreciatively,
Courtney
