[ale] Atapi cdrecord?

One problem with this that I hope is addressed properly in
the 2.6 kernel is that the SCSI code in Linux is not great.
Linus Torvalds himself doesn't like it and has wanted it
reimplemented from scratch from 2.4. At least that is what
I have garnered from some reading of posts. Alan Cox took
over the IDE subsystem to help clean it up. I wish I had
some time to play with 2.6 and see if it is true that direct
ATAPI support of CD burning is included so you aren't forced
to use the SCSI code. I am not saying the current code in
2.4 is bad. It is confusing though to have to fight with
apps that want the ATAPI interface versus apps that want the
SCSI interface for the same physical hardware. I can't wait
to get into 2.6 where alot of this was supposed to be dealt
with. I don't know how far the changes got though.
