It's got a better mascot.

Seriously, for the most part, FreeBSD and Linux are very comparable. Linux
tends to perform a bit better in my experience in the general case, and
has better driver support (though that's not always true). Its certainly 
true that Linux supports far more architectures than FreeBSD.

Generally, though, whichever of the two you know the best is going to 
perform best and be most secure when you're administering it.
