/dev/hde and /dev/hdf? not /dev/hde1 and /dev/hdf1 or another

what does a "fdisk -l /dev/hde" give you?

Thus spake John Cole (JohnC at LGEFCU.org):

> Howdy all!
> I thought I had setup my RAID1 in software like I had read from this list
> and also from the LDP.
> Now, when I reboot, it has the following error:
> Searching for Module Dependencies:
> Starting up RAID devices: /dev/md1: Invalid Argument
> /dev/md1 is not a RAID0 or LINEAR array
> md1
> *** An error occured during the RAID startup.
> It then asks me to enter the root password for maintenance mode or press
> Ctrl-D for normal startup. Pressing Ctrl-D reboots me.
> Here's what I've done so far:
> I had in /etc/fstab
> LABEL=/var/logs /var/logs ext3 .....
> I had commented out that line before reboot and added:
> /dev/md1	/var/logs	ext2 ....
> I have since rem'd the /dev/md1 line and made the LABEL= line active again.
> I also have a /etc/raidtab file setup that says /dev/md1 is a raid level 1
> with 2 disks and /dev/hde is disk 0, /dev/hdf is disk1. I even was able to
> synch the drives last week (before I rebooted).
> Do I need to remove this file? I also used mdadm to create/configure/etc
> the RAID array.
> Any ideas on how to fix?
