under the 2.6 kernel there is an ATA interface for cdr's, no more scsi
emulation required.  cdrecord would use a command like "cdrecord
dev=ATA:0,0,0".  ( Linus hacked cdrecord to use the new interface, this
isn't standard for all of the cdr utilities out there.)
