[ale] a Google <feature!> OT

BTW, I opted out the listing on white pages when starting my local phone
service with Bellsouth two or three years ago. My phone # is not searchable
on whitepages.com or google.com

This is nothing new. You allowed such mapping (phone # <--> address) in
local white pages, either by default, or with your express consent.
I actually found a few lost friends this way by searching on whitepages.com,
with only their names and possible state name.

To remove (opt out), you need to call you local phone co to disallow them to
publish your phone/address mapping in paper/digital form.

Sorry for the intrusion of basically non-Linux
stuff on this list, but I think it is important
to all with young children. My Libertarian soul
is appalled at the new ways public data and be
sorted through relational databases.

What follows came in over the transom on one of the
mail lists I frequent.

It's true. I tried it before deciding to forward
it. I have not yet tried the "removal feature." But
I will!
