[ale] SuSE, Nvidia, and Quake 3

I'm kind of late in this discussion, so you may already have the problem
resolved....
The driver that is available at the NVidia site shouldn't require manual
editing of the xfree86conf file. After you run through the installation
procedures, you should be able to enable 3d with sax2.
I had to edit my config to disable AGP because of a motherboard issue,
but that has nothing to do installing and configuring the driver itself.
I've got Quake 3 running at 1280X1024 with basically the same card you
mentioned, and it runs smoothly and quickly. If you use the open source
NVidia driver with the software 3d emulation, it runs, but just barely.
Everything steps through very slowly.

Oops! There aren't two Monitor sections! The SecondMonitor option is
enabled
by the Twinview option under the Device section. Sorry!
That gets you a unified desktop across both monitors that is hardware
accelerated. I like this since I can have games or modelling programs
running
in windows while other stuff is displayed at the same time. I think
once
someone gets used to a readable desktop of 3200x2400 that it is hard to
go
back to just one monitor!
