I've moved CVS trees, but never across architectures.  Was your solaris box a 
sparc box?  I wonder if the dreadedbig-endian/little-endian problem shows up 
in the CVS files somewhere subtle.  That would be very ugly.

Do the logs on your server say anything when it fails?
