[ale] Cisco VPN client question

ALErs -

I suspect this is an "old chestnut" to more experienced folks, but in my
eternal quest to join that group ...

I want to set up the Cisco VPN client on my RH-6.x laptop. I got sources
from UICU's web site as: "vpn-5000-linux-5.2.8-des-k8.tar.Z", which they
claim to match RH-6.2 and 7.x w/compat. libs. I unpacked the sources and
ran the install script OK, but the resulting 'vpnmod' has a number of
unsatisfied references and won't start.

These include:
Starting VPN services: modules/lib/modules/2.2.19-6.2.7/COMPvpn/vpnmod:
unresolved symbol skb_under_panic_R16fa6f86
/lib/modules/2.2.19-6.2.7/COMPvpn/vpnmod: unresolved symbol
boot_cpu_data_R7771ef76
/lib/modules/2.2.19-6.2.7/COMPvpn/vpnmod: unresolved symbol
__kfree_skb_R461d1b3d
... (more like that)

There is also a complaint that interface 'vpn0' does not exist - not
surprising, since I haven't created it, but how do I?

Does anyone know if these are a matter of editing the 'install' script,
basic configuration/installation issues, or a fundamentally unusable
module?

Recommended alternatives? I am trying to debug VPN login problems, and the
site only provided MsWinXP/NT clients.

TIA.
