I don't know the answer, unless you installed an RPM of Mozilla and they
altered its default behavior. But in my experience, if you have Mozilla
running and try to start a new instance, it will ask you for the profile and
you can't use the profile that is already running. This was done to Mozilla
some time back as a fix to a security hole.
