[ale] serious problem with Mandrake 9.2 kernels

The LG drives I have purchased have been so compatible with SuSE 8.1 and
8.2 that I have actively looked for them at Walmart when setting up a
machine. I hate to hear this news since each distro could have
different behaviour with all the new backported patches from the
development kernel. I was looking at the assorted kernels available
within Gentoo and the WOLK kernel looked very appealing. I hope this
flush command is simply a Mandrake only issue and is easily corrected.
