[ale] Think I need some standard C++ libs in Slack-9.1

I'm settling in to a thin installation of Slackware-9.1 and looking for 
pieces I omitted, but need.

My C++ compilation fails on undefined 'cout' and 'endl', which sounds like
I left out a basic C++ lib and/or associated headers: probably
/usr/lib/libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.* or something related. (I ran 'nm'
in a RH-7.3 environment where those tags are resolved, and looked for
'cout' and 'endl' to decide that.)

Can someone suggest what package I need to add, or how find out
