I'm not sure how much I'm paying for my cablemodem, I've got the
"Platinum" package for Cable and get some special rate on the modem as
well. I can easily average 200-300KB/S upgrades off mirrors that have the
bandwidth when updating my Debian, etc. The upstream sucks as I get
about 15KB/s when uploading, sending large emails, etc. Works great for
playing NWN and ET though.
Get a TiVo. No annoying advertisements, it's learned what I want, etc.
I love the thing and will some day get a second and the Home Media Option
so I can record shows on 2TVs. With the Home Media Option I can record
on TV-B and watch on TV-A, etc.
