I guess I would focus on two things, first the following in the bottom 
section of that QandA:

"In conclusion: Poptop suffers the same security vulnerabilities as the 
NT server (this is because it operates with Windows clients)."

Further, I wouldn't want to rely on any infrastructure that's dependent 
upon M$.  Particularily if you plan to use pptp on windows clients.  All 
it takes is M$ to throw you a 'required update' that breaks the poptop 
solution.  M$ spends a lot of 'calories' trying to break functionality 
that is consistent with both older versions of windows and non-windows 
environments.
