[ale] MS BIOS

It would be a good time for SUN to step in, though I doubt the greedy little
so and so's that run SUN have the foresight to do anything about it. I
thought for a time they were on the right track with the SunBlade desktops,
but I was incorrect. They are still behind in chip development it seems and
they appear to not give a fig when it comes to sharing specs with Open
Source types. Forget Solaris and Java, hw (I think) is where the $$ come
from for them and I wish they would look at something besides huge servers.
I just hope that AMD and Apple don't go along because I have my heart set on
a double processor 64 bit machine for my next desktop - though my Atholon XP
1800+ seems to still take on everything I throw at it, so it will be a long
time until I buy anything else.
Well - it is par for the course. This week my job is officially going .NET
( I was praying for a miracle and hoping it would be Java).
Fortunately I just got some books to salve my soul - The Zen of Programming
by James, TCP/IP Illustrated Vol I, and Advanced Programming in the Unix
Environment by Stevens (God rest his soul).
And now for some soothing reading/coding ....
