I don't think so. Of the growing number of heated discussions not
related to Linux on this list, I have noticed that the longer they go,
the less likely they are to contain anything relevant to the general
list. So I just delete messages based on subject line. If during the
process of determining that the flame war is a waste of my time I also
determine that a poster is particularly loathsome, I start deleted posts
based on that users ID. This generally continues until I manage to
forget the loathsomeness. There was one case where I actually added that
address to my kill filters.

So I would say that, no, it's not wrong-minded to ignore them. This is a
voluntary effort. I can choose with whom I wish to associate and
interact with. I am under no obligation to interact with the
incorrigibles. Nor is anyone. Nor should they be.
