This is a great topic, and one I've been trying to figure options for, for
home use. Getting kind of old hacking and re-installing things on a way too
regular basis.

Anyway - ZIP 750 Mb disks are an option. They were going for about $190 at
Circuit City, and had a $50 mail-in rebate. The Zip 250 is a pretty quick and
painless solution as well. Maybe the media is more expensive than CD-R, but
they are re-usable. A ZIP 250 starter kit with 3 zip disks was going for appr
$140-149 at Circuit City, and had a $20 rebate. Don't quote me on exact
numbers - I was on a "pricing Office XP excursion" and nearly choked at the
price.

I asked a similar question on the Mandrake news forum, but I was looking for a
solution that was portable and could back up my Mandrake box, my wife's XP
laptop, and my work W2K laptop. Someone suggested an external USB attached
hard drive.

For home use that might be a viable solution - but I don't know if a business
would go that way. In the event that the external hard disk became toast -
you'd lose your backups.

(Cool! I bottom-posted!!! Prolly didn't say anything new or original, but at
least I bottom posted!)
