Thanks for the input.
The CD media is so cheap, it opens options. The client's been rotating 3 tapes, but with cheap media, they could stash away EOW or EOM backups.
Also, I'd forgotten that multisession avoids daily blanking.
The backup PC is Celeron 400, so I wouldn't count on playing movies there..
I'll discuss the options with them, and give them something soon.
