Upgrade to the latest errata kernel (2.4.20-13.9). A security fix in older
kernels prevents complete process information from showing up for some
processes (they incorrectly display just the process, in an apparently
swapped-out state, like you were seeing), and 13.9 fixes that.

You're probably better off running Oracle on older distributions, though.  
Some of the Java admin fluff (assuming you use it) simply won't work with
new glibc....
