You and Geoffrey were correct. It was bad media. Lesson learned: If you have
problems burning a CD rom with a system that you know works, don't put that
CD rom back on the top of the pile of blank CDs to be used in the future.

Anyway, my struggles were in an effort to burn the boot CD for Suse 8.2.

TRiED CDROM
1. I downloaded
ftp://ftp-linux.cc.gatech.edu/pub/suse/suse/i386/8.2/boot/boot.iso
2. I mounted the .iso to see that it "worked"
3. I burned the .iso to CD. When I mounted it, and the directory looks much
like the working 8.1 disk that I have.
4. The CD fails to boot my machine.

TRiED FLOPPY. (not a fan of floppies)
1. I downloaded the bootdisk and used the dd command successfully.
2. I downloaded the modules3 and used a dd command without errors.
3. I downloaded the modules1 and always get and I/O error (don't remember if I
tried downloading it again) when I use the dd command. I did see that I
needed a different dd command to do the modules. I tried variations and still
get the error.

Has anyone gotten the 18-20MB boot CD to work for Suse 8.2?
Can someone give me the URL to the boot.iso that will work?

Drew
