Well, don't know about any goodness, but it returns a whole bunch of
stuff.  I think /usr/share/i18n is the equivalent of /etc/sysconfig/i18n
on Debian.

It seems to be a gdm problem.  If I stop gdm, and type startx in a
console, everything is fine.  It's a minor annoyance, but I hate not
knowing how to fix something. :-/
