If this is truly the case, you can purchase a capture card that has rca 
in for around $15-20.  I've got two, both work flawlessly with Linux. 
I'd try and stay with the bt848-bt878 haupauge chips.  I've got 4 cards 
that use them, two of which are tv/capture cards and they all work 
wonderfully.  I purchased my latest one form weirdstuff.com:
