[ale] OpenOffice-1.0.2 newbieQs

I'm installing OpenOffice-1.0.2 from the OOo website (their *.tar.gz)  on
a RH-7.3 box, and have a few questions the README didn't address (or I 
missed 'em).

As 'su' I unpacked the tarball and ran its install/install script which
produced a 'significant'(!) /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0.2 tree.

I provisionally added /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0.2/programs to PATH and 
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, then as an ordinary user I invoked 'soffice'. This 
brought up a 'setup wizard' which collected some user info, then asked 
whether to create an OpenOffice directory under my name and I chickened 
out to look for a bit more advance information (starting with this note).

There is a 'setup' script in the created tree which I did not invoke. Is
this wizard 'setup' in action, invoked by 'soffice'?

Are there some notes on the OpenOffice installation so I know what to
expect? For example, should each user follow the same setup procedure, or
is there a once-and-for-all setup by 'su'?

Last, but still important: is this going to hurt much?
